Jan. 23rd, 2007 09:32 pmwhooo! new work is something else. My nice shiny new office already has my name on the door and a big empty filing cabinet for me to fill with craploads of paperwork and engineering projects.
My poor mother who had been without electricity for a week and a half finally got it back. How crazy is it that in 2007 people have to go without for several weeks. I know that there are plenty of places in the world and some here in the US that don't have electricity but I'm a spoiled city girl and it boggles the mind. I am not one of those people that likes to say that they were "born in the wrong time." Nope I'm good thanks.
Also one of the most influential people in my formative years passed away today. He had been in a car accident right before Christmas and never came out of the coma. His wife and kids made the decision to remove him from life support which is exactly what he would have wanted but still it's awfully depressing. He was one of my mother's best friends and the director and the local community theatre where I practically grew up. He was relatively young and his children are still in college. I feel terrible for them and my mother is taking it particularly hard. The not so hidden message is of course to make sure that you tell people that you love them when you have the chance and drive more carefully.
