What is better than a weekend with nothing to do and heat working in your house?

A weekend with nothing to do, heat working and RENT showing in a theatre near you.

I finally got around to seeing it. And [livejournal.com profile] lovecat10036 you were right. There is absolutely nothing better than Adam Pascal on the big screen although I miss the plaid pants. Anthony Rapp is lovely and Jesse L. Martin...... well the triple piroutte that he pulls off in La Vie Boheme is just *sigh*

I'm not horribly fond of Rosario Dawson, she works in the roll but her version of Take Me Out is entirely too tame.  She needs to be screaming and howling. Thats the point! I know that the original Mimi (Daphne Rubin Vega) would be entirely too old to do the role now but I miss her scratchy voice and out of control vocals.

Love, love, love what they did with the Tango Maureen. Making it into a full fledged dance number with Mark and Joanne watching Maureen work the room is classic.

I wonder how long it took some of them to stop singing the dialogue? I kept expecting them to sing it rather than speak it and it messed me up at first.

They didn't follow Mark's story through as well as I thought they should have. They were really showing his isolation and kept showing him behind his camara or alone with the rest of the couples at the end of the musical numbers but then they cut the whole scene between he and Roger at the end of Goodby Love and before What You Own. That felt a little unfinished to me.

Did anyone else have difficulty with the timeline at the beginning? I thought that Maureen's protest took place on Christmas? They spread everything else out over several days and it got really muddled. Maybe that's just me.

But by far the best was La Vie Boheme. It was like they lifted it from the Broadway stage and barely changed a thing. It was perfect.

Now back to my laundry.
