The practical applications of the Vulcan mind meld

I hate Mondays. I totally skipped the baby shower that I tried to go to on Saturday but was actually on Sunday. L and I decided that we really didn't want to go so now we have to come up with a valid excuse as to why we didn't attend. On a positive note, they played games at the shower. Games! I HATE baby shower games with a passion so I'm very glad that I didn't go.

After putting myself back together from bawling at the Home Makeover show I managed to get all laundry done, folded, hung up and put away. This is a banner day at my apartment. Not only that but the dog got a bath and the carpet got vacuumed. Now if I could just get the clean dishes out of the washer and put away the apartment would be just about perfect.

Everyone and their brother wants soemthing from me this morning. I just want to sit at my desk and read LJ. I see this as a conflict of interest.  I finally get to hand off part of my work load to one of the new trainees. This is fantastic in that it will eventually lesson my work load  but it sucks now because I have to find the time to train the guy. Why oh why isn't the Vulcan mind meld a viable option?

Ya know, I'm not for the shower games myself, but the 3 that they played at my shower I enjoyed. My niece bought a baby bottle w/the disposable bags. She filled it w/m&ms, and everyone had to guess how many there were. I then had my first bottle! She then folded paper towels into diapers, melted candy bars in them (so it looked like poop), and we had to guess which candy bars they were. Thirdly, we had blank bingo cards, and a list of 25 different baby-related words to fill in anywhere we want, and then played 2 games of bingo.

I've been to a few showers where the games have NOTHING to do with babies, and I'm like, okay, let's cut the cake.
